About The Chef

Chef Craig Paulse

Executive Chef Craig Paulse joined the PortsWood in 2004 and was instrumental in helping to have the Quarterdeck Restaurant judged the "Second Best Restaurant in the Waterfront" for 2007. This was a real achievement considering the number of fine restaurants in the V&A Waterfront.

Quarterdeck Restaurant

Transformed from part of the old Breakwater Prison into a beautifully appointed restaurant, the Quarterdeck offers fine dining in the Cape Malay tradition. Influenced by Indian cuisine, Cape Malay dishes are aromatic and spicy with recipes such as samoosas, curries and rotis passed down from generation to generation. Let us introduce you to this delightful fare, done in truly unique Cape Town style.

Join us for a traditional Cape Malay culinary sensation. Under Chef Craig Paulse's guiding hand, the Quarterdeck has been judged the "Second Best Restaurant in the Waterfront" for 2007, a remarkable accolade considering the array of fine dining restaurants at the V&A Waterfront. Sample Craig's amazing array of Indian influences, cooked to perfection for your gastronomic delight. Our restaurant seats 70 people and is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
